Cancellation Policy

Clear guidelines for order cancellations and refunds

1. Introduction

We understand that sometimes order cancellations are necessary. This Cancellation Policy explains when and how you can cancel an order with Harrington Bookshop, and any applicable conditions. By placing an order with us, you agree to the following cancellation terms.

2. Customer-Initiated Cancellations

Timing is crucial. If you wish to cancel your order, please contact us immediately (via email, phone, or marketplace cancellation feature). We will do our best to accommodate your request, provided the order has not yet been shipped or entered the final stages of processing.

2.1 Cancellation Before Shipment

If you request a cancellation before the order has been shipped (while still in processing and no shipment confirmation issued), we will cancel your order and provide a full refund. No cancellation fees apply.

Processing Timeline:

• Refunds are typically processed within 5–10 business days, subject to bank/payment provider timelines

• Requests received before 12:00 PM on business days may be processed the same day

• Requests after business hours, weekends, or public holidays will be processed on the next business day

2.2 Cancellation After Shipment

An order cannot be cancelled after it has been shipped. Once handed over to the courier or marked as dispatched, the purchase is considered completed. If you no longer want the product, you must wait for delivery and process a return per our Refund Policy. Refusals or unclaimed deliveries may incur fees (see Section 2.3).

2.3 Refused Deliveries

Refusing delivery or failing to collect a shipment is treated as an unauthorized return. We reserve the right to deduct return shipping costs, round-trip courier fees, and restocking fees if the item/packaging is not in brand-new condition. To avoid such fees, always follow the cancellation or return process properly.

2.4 Non-Cancellable Items

Some orders cannot be canceled once placed, such as pre-orders, customized products, or special orders. These conditions will be clearly stated at checkout. Digital goods or gift cards (if offered) are also final sale and non-cancellable once delivered.

Important: All requests must be in writing (email or platform message) for record-keeping. Do not attempt cancellation by disputing the payment directly with your bank, as this complicates the refund process.

4. Our Right to Cancel Orders

We reserve the right to cancel orders even after confirmation in cases including:

Out-of-stock items
Pricing errors
Payment/fraud concerns
Shipping restrictions
Force majeure events (see Terms & Conditions)

If we cancel, you will be notified and receive a full refund. Harrington Bookshop bears no liability beyond refunding the purchase price and any shipping fees paid.

5. Marketplace Order Cancellations

If purchased on a marketplace (Shopee, Lazada, Amazon, etc.), cancellation requests follow that platform's policies. Marketplaces usually allow cancellation only before shipment. After shipment, you must follow return/refund rules of the platform. We comply with marketplace decisions, but our own warranty and return terms still apply.

Note: Repeated last-minute cancellations may affect your ability to order directly with us in the future.

6. Refunds for Canceled Orders

Refunds for canceled orders are processed to the same payment method:

Credit/debit card or online banking – refund to original account (may take several business days)
Third-party payment services (e-wallet, PayPal, etc.) – refund to your account with that service
COD orders – no charge until delivery; refusal after shipment may result in future prepayment requirements

Refund Timeline: We initiate refunds within 2–5 business days once cancellation is confirmed, but bank/payment provider timelines may apply.

Please Note: Voucher codes or one-time coupons may not be reinstated once used.

7. Abuse Prevention & Limitations

Frequent or repeated cancellation requests, especially after shipment, may result in suspension of your account or refusal of future orders. We encourage responsible ordering and contacting us with any questions before purchase.
